On November 22, 2022, the Elliot Lake Historical Society met for the first time. The meeting was marked by the presence of an estimated 25 founding members, who gathered to conduct the election of the society’s inaugural Board of Governors. The election concluded with the appointment of Marie Murphy-Foran as the Chairperson of the Board. The roles of Secretary-Treasurer were entrusted to Geraldine Robinson, while Nancy Ewen, Doug Souliere, and Margaret Dean were appointed as Directors-at-Large, completing the composition of the board.
Today, the Elliot Lake Historical Society convenes on a monthly basis with the objective of preserving the region's heritage, history, and culture. This is achieved through the the facilitation of dialogue, memorabilia, the organization of events, the provision of educational opportunities, the hosting of guest speakers, and the distribution of pertinent information.
Elliot Lake Historical Society was incorporated in 2022 and continues to work collaboratively with the museum curator, Amelia D'Amato to identify possible storytellers and to provide facts on history.
